Smart goal
S:
I wanted to play 2 sentences of the soundtrack “Outer wilds” on the guitar as accurately as possible. (The melody of “Travelers”)
M:
In the end of the class I must have one video recorded, at least 10 seconds long that replicates the soundtrack.
A:
I believe I can achieve this goal because I only planned to learn the main melody, not to completely arrange of the song. There are plenty of tutorials online for me to watch and learn, so I believe this goal is possible within 40 minutes.
R:
I really appreciated this piece of music before this class. As a student whose main hobby being music, learning a new versatile instrument like the guitar will be beneficial as it can give me more inspiration in the future and allow me to understand more music.
T:
I will find sheet music and find the correct posture to play the guitar in the first 10 minutes.
After that, I would practice for 20 minutes following tutorials online, both videos and sheet music.
In the last 10 minutes I will refine what I played and record the video.
Reflection: I might have achieved more than my goal better than I thought I would. I successfully played 4 sentences of “Travelers”. Though I did not have the video recorded, I felt definitely more confident the next time I pick up a guitar. I’d work on some time management and take a video next time.
