A Life Without Limits
Today, Uncle Zhongsheng sent me a video of himself paragliding. It was fascinating to watch him soaring through the sky, looking so free and full of life.
He studied music in Vienna when he was young and later became a bassoonist. Driven by curiosity, he went on to learn all kinds of skills, and somehow managed to excel in every field he pursued. He learned to sail yachts, then to repair them. He went from being a Singapore Airlines captain to becoming a flight instructor at a flying club. During the pandemic, he fell in love with photography and even won a major photography award.
His story seems to follow one simple principle: put your heart into learning and doing something well, and unexpected success may follow.
Even in retirement, his life is wonderfully full. He ventures into remote mountain ranges, far from the beaten path, to go paragliding.
I love talking with him about music, sharing my thoughts and sending him pieces of music I find beautiful. He makes me feel that the world is full of infinite possibilities.
We can dare to be adventurous, embrace freedom, and keep exploring. There is so much to learn, so many unfamiliar fields to discover. The more hands-on experience we gain, the more capable and empowered we become.
His life reminds me that curiosity has no age limit, and neither does the freedom to explore what the world has to offer.
