Swan Lake

Swan Lake

Swan Lake - The strings are mainly quiet and layered with multiple different instruments like violins and the song avoided quick change in chords, making it delicate and fancy than loud and heavy, fitting the tone of how Romeo and Juliet are both from powerful rich families.

The Occupation of Balmorra- The start of the soundtrack have a little intro with unpredictable chords before increasing tension, reminding me of the prologue. Later in the part when French horns, trombones and brass instruments come in, the quick 4 notes sounds like servants clashing swords.

Across the stars - The soundtrack is mainly in minor key with occasional majors and is mainly in a soft dynamic, making it emotional and somehow tragic with all the minor tones, matching how the main characters both died.

Waltz of the flowers - This song connects to how Romeo and Juliet met in a dance party in the house of Capulet. The song is in 3/4, making a one-two-three rhyme mainly used in dancing. Most musical phrases starts and ends in major with minor in middle, making it sound elegant and bright.

June Barcarolle - A piece where most musical phrase ends in a quiet minor similar to the story tragic end. Mainly in minor with slow piano notes. Major parts of the song is like a flashback to their romance before they died and the minor end of each phrase is like reminding me of their ending.

Prelude of the afternoon of a Faun - I personally think the mysterious and blurry feel behind it fits the Balcony scene. As Romeo is a character who have a lot of imaginations and dreams about romance, the soft and slow, random but smooth harmony does sounds like a dream.

Symphony 5 - Heavy, dramatic theme sounds similar to how Tybalt is killed in revenge by Romeo and also the minor motif and the background creating tension similar to how the two families clashes.

Hungarian Dance - Similar to Waltz of the flowers, this song have a combination of light and bright woodwind and strings making it sound overall very light and happy. The tempo sometimes slows down and then suddenly accelerates to the minor motif, creating a dramatic and fancy jumpscare similar to a chaotic party.
